Camping and Education Foundation Planned Giving Options

We are proud to partner with The Dayton Foundation, which is prepared to handle the complexities of charitable gift annuities and trusts as needed. We also are fortunate to have several financial service professionals, who are Kooch-i-ching alums, volunteer to help our donors make informed decisions. These individuals will serve as liaisons between The Dayton Foundation and the Camping and Education Foundation, as well as make themselves available to answer questions directly. By no means will the Foundation’s team replace your financial advisor but it will be ready to assist along with the Foundation’s general legal counsel.

Many people ask us what they need to make a charitable bequest in their will. The following language may be helpful: “I hereby bequeath to the Camping and Edu- cation Foundation (Tax ID No. 31-0650653), a nonprofit organization with head- quarters in Cincinnati, OH, the sum of $_________or (__________% of my estate).” Designations may be for general operating support or for a specific endowment.

When you transfer cash or securities of more than $10,000 to an organization like The Dayton Foundation, or another organization of your choice, the annuity would guarantee you a fixed stream of income for life. The income would flow to you (and to your spouse, if you desire), after which the remaining principal of the annuity becomes a gift to the Camping and Education Foundation. This provides a current income tax savings and possible capital gains savings.

When the added protection of an insurance policy is no longer needed, trans- ferring the policy’s ownership to the Camping and Education Foundation can result in tax benefits for you and a generous gift for the Camping and Education Foundation. The Camping and Education Foundation can also be included as a beneficiary, contingency beneficiary or owner of a new or existing policy.

A Charitable Trust can provide income to you and your spouse as long as either of you live. Thereafter, the trust principal will go to the Camping and Education Foundation. You may name other charities as principal recipients as well.

For those who may have significant retirement plan assets, potential estate and income taxes on any part of those assets that might still be in one’s estate at death can be avoided by making the Camping and Education Foundation the beneficiary of any unused plan assets.

A Charitable Lead Trust can be appropriate if you have ample income now, but desire to retain ownership of the trust principal to meet the future financial goals for your family. Income will be directed to the Camping and Education Foundation for the specific term of the trust, after which time the principal will return to you or designated survivors.
